What is Pigmentation?

Solar Lentigo– Liver spots or sunspots. They may occur anywhere on the body caused by UV sun exposure, and they may develop into skin cancer and melanoma.

What Causes Hyperpigmentation on Your Skin?

Pigmentation may be caused by:

Genetic – you might inherit the skin condition through your parents. If they have it, you might have higher chance to get it too
Sun Exposure – Without using sunscreen as protection, it will increase melanin production and hyperpigmentation will occur
Hormonal Influence – it is common among pregnant moms due to high Estrogen level
Inflammation – post inflammatory hyperpigmentation is common
Cosmetic effects – ingredients like Mercury or Hydroquinone can damage the skin and cause hyperpigmentation. That is why, it's very important for you to know what your skincare contains and the verification of the product from Health Ministration.
